About Me
The important things
Thoughtful, meaningful graphic design
I’m a graphic designer with nearly 20 years of experience working within agencies, publishing companies, in-house marketing departments, and my home office. My strong creative thinking and problem-solving skills are demonstrated in my portfolio of print, digital, and web projects.
I have excellent communication, writing, and proofreading skills. I thrive in a team environment, but also enjoy working independently. I work efficiently and carefully to create thoughtful, meaningful designs for my clients. Both professional and lighthearted, I’m very easy to work with. Have a look at my client testimonials!
I’m a graduate of the Massachusetts College of Art & Design in Boston and I am an Adobe Certified Expert in InDesign.
Accessible digital design
I am a digital accessibility practitioner. The digital documents and websites I create are accessible to everyone (including those with disabilities), compliant with Section 508 and WCAG. I am constantly learning new skills on this incredibly important topic, currently working toward Web Accessibility certification through W3C. I recently became a Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies through IAAP.
Home in the Berkshires
I’m a Pittsfield, Massachusetts native, though I’ve lived in and traveled to places near and far. My husband and I returned to the area in 2008. We are fortunate to live in this special area and we do our best to take advantage of its outdoor and cultural offerings.
Along with 14 other selected local entrepreneurs, I recently learned how to properly build my design business in the Berkshire County EforAll Business Accelerator Spring 2022 Cohort. This wonderfully intense learning opportunity, and those who participated in it, continue to be an incredible resource for Erin Murphy Design.
Non-designy things
I am the mother of an incredible child whose creativity is limited only by her age and her perfectionist tendencies. We are both learning to embrace the joy of mistake-making as we learn new skills.
A section of our basement is now home to a wee ceramics studio, allowing me to step away from the computer, embrace mud, and learn what clay can (and cannot) do.
I’m a musician at heart. In stolen moments, I’m learning to play guitar. My plan to start a rock band through Boston Raising Powerful Musicians was thwarted by the pandemic, but I expect to participate in April 2024.
You can keep track of my endeavors, creative and otherwise, on my blog, Facebook, instagram, and in my monthly newsletter.
